WWOOFERS
- In order to facilitate a meeting for potential volunteers on our farm, we have listed the main jobs that are done according to the months of the year. Therefore, our guests will be able to know the various kinds of duties in advance and decide whether to contact us according to their interests and abilities.
- There are other small tasks not written below that are done throughout the year such as: work on the stone walls, paths, streets, pond/fountain, and parking spaces around the houses, kitchen aid.
- Don't phone, please. We prefer volunteers to send their information and questions in advance by e-mail: age, address, abilities, allergies, time of the year you wish to stay, special needs ( vegetarian, vegan, yoga...), No smoking.
- By request, we can educate volunteers on the principles of organic agriculture, the use of seeds, organic fertilizers, phermone traps, natural insect attracters, use of predator insects, etc.
- The farm is specialized in the production of organic olives and extravirgin olive oil, has its own registered trade mark, depository, and bottling center.
- "No middle man"; our products go direcly from us to the consumer. For this reason, there are many customers who come from different countries to visit the farm. Many other customers order our products by phone and through the internet.
Main jobs done according to the months of the year
October
- Cut the grass
- Renew the scents in the insect traps
- Place nets under older olive trees
- Clean olive crates, buckets, bottles, and cans
- Collects fruits: grapes, mapi, kaki, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, corbezzoli, nuts, and pomegranates
- Collect olives from the nets of the older trees
- Pick olives from the younger trees
- Gardening: general cleaning
- Vegetable garden: general cleaning, collect salad greens, radicchi, peppers,...
- Preserve sweet olives
- Prune citrus fruit trees
November
- Collect olives from the nets of the older trees
- Collect olives from small/medium trees
- Preserve olives in sea salt
- Transport olives to oil processing place
- Collect fruits: oranges, grapefruit, figs, etc.
- Fertilize the fruit trees
- Till the land around fruit trees
- Fertilize the vegetable garden and plant seeds for Spring
- Prune the younger olive trees
December
- Collect final olives from old trees and put nets away for next season
- Transport olives to oil processing place
- Till the land around fruit trees
- Remove unhealthy trees and plant new trees
- Remove insect traps
- Disinfect trees
